Why we built Priceglot
Every traveller does the same sum at the shelf: what is this in my money, and is it actually a good price? Priceglot does the sum for every tag in view, and adds the parts most converters leave out.
What we add
- Your card's fee. A 3% fee turns a bargain into an ordinary price.
- The tax refund. Many countries give visitors their sales tax back, if you follow the rules. We estimate it and tell you the rules.
- The price at home. The only comparison that answers "should I buy it here?"
How we keep the numbers honest
Tax refund rules come from official sources: customs agencies, tax authorities and government tourism bodies. Every country guide lists its sources and the date we last checked them, and flags anything we couldn't confirm. Where we can't confirm a scheme, the app shows no estimate rather than a guess.
Exchange rates in the app come from ExchangeRate-API, updated daily and stored on your phone. Rates on this website are the European Central Bank's reference rates.
Who we are
Priceglot is made by Inventum Technologies Pty Ltd, a small Australian company in Melbourne. We also make Foodglot, which reads and explains restaurant menus in any language.
