Priceglot Terms of Use

Effective date: 2 November 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Inventum Technologies Pty Ltd (ABN 54 689 311 288), Melbourne, Victoria, Australia ("we", "us"). They cover the Priceglot apps for iPhone and Android and the website at priceglot.com. By using Priceglot you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.

1. Who can use Priceglot

You can use Priceglot if you're old enough to agree to these terms where you live, or if a parent or guardian agrees for you. You must also follow the rules of the App Store or Google Play you downloaded it from.

2. What Priceglot does

Priceglot reads prices from your camera and converts them to your home currency. It can also:

  • add your card's foreign transaction fee to a converted price;
  • estimate a tourist tax refund from the published rules of the country you're in;
  • find what an item costs at retailers in your home country (home-price compare);
  • read receipts and keep a record of your spending on a trip.

Priceglot is an information tool. It doesn't sell anything, handle refunds or act for you with shops, banks, customs or refund operators.

3. Estimates, not advice

Every number Priceglot shows is an estimate. Please read this section before you rely on one.

  • Exchange rates are mid-market reference rates, downloaded about once a day. Your card network's rate, your bank's fees and the time your payment is processed all change what you actually pay.
  • Card fees come from the presets or the figure you enter. Your card issuer's fee schedule is the real figure.
  • Tax refund estimates come from each country's published rules, which we check against official sources and date. Rules change, refund operators deduct fees, goods taxed at a reduced rate carry less tax, and a refund depends on customs and the operator approving your claim. We don't promise that you'll get any refund, or any amount.
  • Home-price compare uses AI to identify a product and search for its price. It can match a similar product instead of the same one, and retailer prices change. Check the links before you decide.
  • Receipt scanning uses AI and can misread an amount. Check the result against the receipt.

Nothing in Priceglot is financial, tax or legal advice. For a decision that matters to you, check with the shop, your bank, the refund operator or the country's customs or tax authority.

4. Guest use and accounts

You can use Priceglot without an account. The app creates an anonymous ID so purchases and free tries work. If you sign in with Apple or Google, you can restore your purchases and trips on another phone. You're responsible for keeping access to that Apple or Google account.

5. Price, free tries and purchases

  • Priceglot is free to download and use, with no ads.
  • Home-price compare includes 3 free tries. After that it needs a Trip Pass or Lifetime.
  • A Trip Pass gives you Pro for 14 days from the moment you buy it. It doesn't renew. If you buy another while one is running, the new one starts when the first ends.
  • Lifetime gives you Pro for as long as we offer Priceglot on your platform, with one payment.
  • Pro features may have fair-use limits to stop abuse and keep our costs sustainable. They're set well above normal travel use, and the app tells you if you reach one.
  • Apple or Google takes the payment, in your local currency, under their terms. Refund requests go to them first. Section 13 explains your rights under consumer law, which these terms don't limit.

6. Using Priceglot properly

Please don't:

  • use Priceglot to break the law or anyone's rights, including photographing where it isn't allowed;
  • send us images of other people's personal documents or cards;
  • try to get around the free-try limit, App Check or our purchase checks, or use automated tools to call our servers;
  • copy, resell or build a competing service from our data, our tax refund rules or our home-price results;
  • reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it.

We can suspend access to our server features if they're being misused.

7. Your content

Photos and text you send for home-price compare or receipt scanning stay yours. You give us permission to process them only to provide the feature, as our privacy policy describes. Don't send anything you don't have the right to share.

8. Feedback

If you send us suggestions or corrections, such as a tax rule that's changed, we can use them to improve Priceglot without owing you anything. Thank you.

9. Our intellectual property

Priceglot, its design, code, name, logo and the data we compile, including our tax refund rules, belong to us or our licensors. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own purposes. The Archivo typeface is used under the SIL Open Font License.

10. Other services

Priceglot links to and relies on services we don't control, including retailer websites, Apple, Google, Anthropic, ExchangeRate-API and the European Central Bank's published rates. Their terms apply to your use of them, and we aren't responsible for their content or prices.

11. Availability

We work to keep Priceglot running, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. Live scan and the converter work offline. Home-price compare and receipt scanning need a connection and our servers. We may change or remove features, and we'll give reasonable notice of any change that takes away something you paid for.

12. Ending these terms

You can stop using Priceglot and delete your account at any time. We can end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. If we stop offering Priceglot, or end your access for a reason other than a breach, we'll give you notice and, where the law requires it, a fair refund for any Trip Pass time you haven't used.

13. Your rights under consumer law

If you're a consumer in Australia, our services come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that can't be excluded. For a major failure you're entitled to cancel and get a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You're also entitled to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If a failure isn't major, you're entitled to have it fixed in a reasonable time, and if that doesn't happen, to cancel and get a refund for the unused portion.

If you're a consumer elsewhere, including the EU and the UK, you have the rights your local law gives you, and nothing in these terms takes them away.

14. Limits on our liability

As far as the law allows, and subject to section 13:

  • we provide Priceglot's estimates as information only, and we aren't liable for purchase decisions, refunds you don't receive, card charges or exchange rates that differ from the estimate;
  • we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss caused by services we don't control;
  • our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or AU$50 if that's more.

Where the Australian Consumer Law applies and lets us limit our liability, our liability for a failure to meet a guarantee is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia. If there's a dispute, please email us first so we can try to fix it. If we can't, the courts of Victoria have jurisdiction, but if you're a consumer you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Priceglot after that, the new terms apply.

17. If you downloaded Priceglot from Apple's App Store

  • These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for Priceglot and its content.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Priceglot.
  • If Priceglot fails to meet a warranty, you can notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. Apple has no other warranty obligation for Priceglot, as far as the law allows.
  • Apple isn't responsible for any claims about Priceglot, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
  • If someone claims Priceglot infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for dealing with it.
  • You confirm that you're not in a country subject to a US government embargo or on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them against you.

18. General

If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we haven't given it up. You can't transfer these terms to someone else; we can transfer them to a buyer of our business, under the same protections.
